Interstellar opens up your mind…

“Christopher Nolan, you did it again!” were the expressions on most of the audience who had come to watch the most talked about movie ‘Interstellar’. While many of us after four years are still in the process of understanding ‘Inception’, Nolan has banged again with his ideas running high on innovativeness. This Science fiction has left almost every watcher dumbfounded and thought-provoking at the possibility of life other than on Earth.

Recently, Indian scientists successfully launched the ‘Mangalyaan’ mission which has gained the faith of humanity to reach the outer space a possibility in near future. With these achievements it will not be an exaggeration to say that the Sci-Fi movies which are show-cased today will become a reality one day. This movie has given a different dimension to the cinema world as well as churned the scientific world so much that, Nolan is said to publish a paper on his findings and study of the concepts of physics and space shown in the movie. Many scientists must have been left aghast at the thought of this possibility and the conceptualization applied in the movie.

Usually, the studies of scientists are used to make a movie. I think it is the first time that a movie will inspire scientists to study a new domain. Taking queue from the popularity and the success of the movie, a thought comes to my mind that why not movies be used for imparting knowledge. I am sure many of us wondered after watching the movie, only if we had focused on that physics concept more. Or what if this movie was released back then, I would have been able to understand those complex concepts in physics easier. Many of us would not have understood black-hole or theory of relativity more precisely as showcased in the movie.

With many new ideas and technology advancing the study patterns have changed. We use to sit in classrooms and stare at the blackboards while today there are laptop screens to stare at. Children have got media and audio-visuals in the market to understand the concepts of physics, chemistry or biology etc. So, I feel it will not be too far that we have more movies published which will educate the children. It will give a different aspect and development to the bright young minds.

So movies like Intersetllar have set-up new heights for the cinema world along with inspiring the innovative minds to think beyond the existing. This will not only boost the income for cinema but will also give new prospect for the education industry as well.
